Tinker Moffitt grew up in Cashiers, NC and has been
riding horses for 25 years.  Horses are his passion, his hobby, his profession, and quite simply his way of life.  He has worked hard over the years to educate himself on how to shape the mind of a horse starting under saddle.  Along with starting young horses, Tinker has worked to relate to the "not so young" horse, too, that presents behavioral or performance issues.  He's worked with young and old and prides himself on keeping horses "out of trouble" and giving them the support they need.  You will be amazed seeing this put to work before your eyes.  Tinker is not a horse whisperer; rather, he is a man who knows how to give a horse the support he/she needs to succeed.  Supporting the horse and knowing "what happens just before it happens" gives Tinker the ability to take the horse to a completely new level.  To gain this knowledge, Tinker has admired and studied great horsemen, Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt & Tom Curtin.  He credits these gentlemen with his own success with horses.   He has made it an integral part of his life by professionally training for 15 years.

Horses brought to Tinker for training go on to specialize in a variety of events after leaving his barn:  cutting, ranch roping, reining, barrel racing, team roping, endurance trail riding, etc.  The list goes on and on.  Tinker can give a horse the start he/she needs.  He can also target a specific behavior or perfomance issue with a horse already under saddle.  Horses at his barn in training vary from those who will soon begin a career with a specialized trainer and into a show ring to those who will spend a lifetime on the trail.  Wherever the path may lead, Tinker can prepare your horse for the ride.

Tinker's own personal interests are ranch roping and traditional vaquero horsemanship.  He competes in Ranch Roping Series competitions along the east coast as well as Ranch Rodeo's.  These competitions focus on both roping, cattle handling and horsemanship skills.  Tinker is a very proficient and skilled roper and spends alot of his free time ranch roping, competing, or working his own cattle.  He has his own small herd of Longhorn and Corriente cattle and all of his own cow work is done on horseback.  For example:  catching, sorting, branding, worming, and vaccinnating his cattle is all done with the use of horses.  It gives his horses a job to do, which is crucial to Tinker's relationship with his horses.  He also travels with his horses and does this work on other ranches, too.  Sometimes very large ranches with cattle in the hundreds, even thousands.  He is a believer of the cowboy way and carries on the traditions of the original buckaroos.  His methods of moving, sorting, & handling cattle focus on keeping the cattle quiet and at ease.  Cattle are the investment, and to Tinker, its important to protect the investment.  Tinker stays focussed on keeping all of his livestock, cattle & horses, out of trouble.  His cattle roundups are some of the most quiet & serene you will ever see or be a part of.  It is truly a memorable experience.  Tinker is a special horseman and rare cowboy, especially in the southeast.

Tinker's farm is located in the beautiful upstate of  South Carolina.  The farm offers horses the freedom to roam in rolling pasture along with the option of a bedded stall.  Its important to Tinker for "horses to be horses", so he likes to rotate the horses between stall and pasture life.  They can learn so much from both.  It  helps their confidence, focus,  and seems to really keep their mind and attitude more balanced.

Tinker and his wife, Stephanie,  celebrated the birth of their first child, Merada, in July 2008. Tinker and Stephanie enjoy riding horses, working cattle, & ranch roping together.  Little Merada enjoys all of it with her mom and dad!  Plus, she has her own herd of goats to look after.  Everyday's a busy day in the Moffitt family!
